1yr 7d ago, i started my reading adventures. prior, i've always wanted to read again, alongside my comics (pretty pictures, easy read), but because of work, i could only ...
while( ratRace ){ readFewPages(); stop(); }
at that time, i've only recently finished S1 of Silo, which i loved. so went to buy the trilogy from Dymocks, started reading it at my own leisurely pace, and really enjoyed it - the books AND the reading.
but after those books, i did not know what else i "should" read. so scrolled BookGram and decided on the ACOTAR series. some of my mates were like "uhm, will you like the spice?". i read the first book, was like, nah that's nothing. but then the next few, i was like "oh, ok. i see what you mean".
i didn't mind it actually, but it wasn't really my thing. but i still proceeded with TOG - which has less spice, and overall really good. then i moved on to FW and IF.
by then, i was really enjoying my reading, and had drastically reduced my TV time (you all already know what a TV series freak i am). so i bought what i could based on BookThreads recs (yeah, i prefer them over BookGram) but then decided ...
"no, i'm still a recovering comic-floppies-and-GNs-and-cover-variants addict. i can't do it again with books". yeah, fuggin book prices are just ridiculous here (in comparison to SG, MY, UK), and they're not even the special editions or spray painted edges.
so .. i finally got a library card, and have not stopped reading since. and i've also finally settled into a fine reading routine which complements with my work hours and TV.
happy reading anniversary to me!
oh and no, i've not quit TV altogether - still watching the good ones. and speaking of which .. Murderbot is coming up this Thursday, based off the most awesome books The Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells (which i highly recommend). i'm fuggin excited !!
