an event is only as good as the people in attendance .. like-minded, easy to talk with, great community feel. that's how it was last night, gathering for Neurodiversity Celebration Week to "Celebrate Uniqueness".
well, having good speakers with great topics helped too.
as a people culture person, Maddy's topic was of great interest to me. back at BlueSky, we've never said it out loud, but we always made sure to make it as comfortable as possible for those we brought in for our chats (interviews) .. cos we want to hire the person, not the skills. but Maddy brought up some pointers which i can't wait to implement at my new work.
and Nat was someone new to me - but her presentation was pretty awesome!
networking. with a few familiar faces, it was easy. but i did make sure to sit down with the "quiet ones" too (who i was already familiar with) to see how they're going, how we can help, etc.
afterall .. that's what being a community is all about.
speaking of which, if anyone is looking for someone with admin skills, please shout out.
anyways, here's looking forward to more of these events for the year ahead!
